” Colour My World “
Posted by: | Comments
I want you to try and picture this wedding cake without the background color. Not as impressive all of a sudden, huh?
Color adds so much to a portrait. When you have a wedding reception celebration, the goal always is to impress your guests. Every bride wants her day to stand out. In my mind, nothing gives an event that “ WOW Factor ” like event lighting.
With the new LED ( Light Emitting Diode ) lighting systems available today, a room can be transformed into a wedding wonderland. The effect does not stop with the impression it makes on the guests. Think of the enhancements for photography. Many of the photographers that we have worked with have commented on how much better their images came out with the dramatic background color!
Studies have also shown the effect that lighting and color has on the mind. Many wedding guests will be more likely to dance and feel festive, when the atmosphere looks festive. ” The Right Mood – The Right Result.”
Music In Motion Entertainment is a leading event lighting provider in New England. Many of our events ( 40% ) now add lighting to their wedding reception packages with the number growing in 2010.
There is no doubt that you can waste money on so many things for your wedding day. Gorgeous event lighting would most definitely be an expenditure that provides fair return on investment. Add some ” Colour ” to your special event.

The Value of Sound
Posted by: | Comments
Many brides and grooms think that by adding a DJ for their ceremony, they are getting music. That is true, but in reality, they should be looking for total sound reinforcement. Total sound to cover the entire area so the guests can feel a part of your service.
How many times have you attended a friend’s wedding only to not hear any part of the ceremony? The problem is the acoustics, especially if the wedding is outdoors. Outside there are no walls, ceilings, carpets, or fixtures to hold in the sound. Many water-front services have waves, wind, birds, and several sound distractions to compete with the soft spoken Justice Of The Peace.
This is a simple fix. Make sure you have a complete sound package for your ceremony and not just a DJ to provide music. Microphones are a key piece to the puzzle. The officiant should have a clip on lavaliere mic as well as an additional microphone on a stand for any readers. The lavaliere microphone will not only pick up the officiant, but the bride and groom’s vows as well. A key feature to a good wedding ceremony. All of your guests really do want to hear you say ” I Do. “
2010 Bridal Show Season Approaches
Posted by: | Comments
Bridal Show Season 2010 approaches! Get ready for the circus to come to town. That’s what it can feel like sometimes when a newly engaged bride and groom attend their first bridal show. Dozens and sometimes hundreds of wedding vendors everywhere you turn. Who is professional? Who is giving you a line, and who is the right pro for the most important day of your life?
Don’t feel bad. The Deer In The Highlights Syndrome affects just about every bride and groom who are planning their first wedding. It’s not like you plan these type of events every day. Here are a few tips to get the most out of a bridal show.
1. Start right or left and walk every single aisle until you have completely passed through the entire exhibit. Do not stop at one booth or talk with anyone. Just walk through and take it all in. After walking the whole show floor, take a break, have a drink ( not alcoholic ) and collect your thoughts. Then go back for a second pass, and this time stop at every booth that looked interesting the first pass. This will help you absorb more and not get so overwhelmed.
2. Don’t fall victim of the bridal show special! Many vendors have show specials. While any deal is nice, no discount is worth a bad service on your wedding day. Look beyond the deals. Most of the best professionals never offer a deal or special. That is because they don’t have to. Their reputation alone keeps them booked year round.
3. Avoid impulse buying. As much as you might panic, don’t book the first service you see unless it is a service you are familiar with, and already wanted to contract with. Take it all in, wait a few days after the show, and then set up a few appointments with your favorites.
4. Finally, be aware that if you attend a bridal show, you might get phone calls and direct mail or even e-mail after the event. This is just part of the experience. Don’t be shocked if you get called at home on a Sunday night. This is the way the wedding market works.
Ultimately, the best remedy to fix Deer In The Headlight Syndrome is to plan early and book all of your wedding professionals as soon as you can. This will not only get your first choice locked in for your special day, but help you avoid the last minute anxiety that comes with waiting to book vendors.
Music In Motion Entertainment will be participating in several great shows for the 2010 season. As soon as our schedule is complete, it will be posted to our blog. See you at the show! Happy Planning!
