Not every Photo Booth is equal
By · CommentsI know this is my second article on the photo booth craze in just a few weeks, but I am inspired! Everybody wants one of these things!!! Music In Motion Entertainment is committed to provide the best service to accommodate the needs and wants of our customer base. Not only do we offer a photo booth, we have become a complete Photo Booth company providing not only the booth itself, but a professional tech to set up and run the system. At the end of the photo booth session, the bride and groom or Bar/Batmitzvah child gets a fabulous photo album created from the pictures taken. This makes it worth getting photo booth all by itself!
Now, not all photo booths are the same, and not all providers are playing by the same rules. Just the other day a potential client called and asked how many hours our photo booth was offered for. I told her we offered the 5 hours of her wedding with unlimited photographs. Turns out another service was trying to sell her on a 3 hour package. BIG MISTAKE!
How would 250 wedding guests ever get into the booth in 3 hours? Do NOT hire a service unless they give you the full 4-5 hour coverage of your event. This way your guests can all get an opportunity to take pictures. Also, look for a service that provides unlimited photos. If a guest wants more than 1 picture, why should they be turned away???
The camera that is used is also very important. Our systems use a Canon 10 mega-pixel camera complete with LED lighting for soft and clear photography. A cheap camera will take cheap looking shots. It’s as simple as that. Our printer is a professional Sony which not only prints very detailed images but completes the photos in 8 seconds! This quick print time will get more people into your photo booth in less time.
Having a staff of 3 service technicians to run our photobooths, they will set up, run, and breakdown the system. With some photo booth rental companies, the user must pick it up and run it. Why would you ever want to do that???
Rule #1…. ” If it seems to be too cheap – There’s a good reason why! “ Music In Motion Entertainment of Seymour Connecticut offers full service, up to 5 hours and unlimited photos. Our rates are very competitive with other suppliers, but the results set us apart from everyone else.
The ” Right ” and ” Wrong ” way to do UpLighting
By · Comments
There is always a right and a wrong way to do things. In this blog article we will focus on uplighting. The right and the wrong way to do things.
The picture to the right is the ballroom at the River House in Haddam CT. It was taken from another DJ company who offers uplighting. Keep in mind that in the humble opinion of this author, most DJs are NOT doing uplighting correctly.
This photo shows a huge ballroom wall illuminated with only 2 lights. This creates a ” cone effect ” with the light stream only making impact on a small area of the wall. Color saturation is NOT achieved and the look is weak. Most DJs that are getting into the Uplighting business are not professional lighting designers, and it shows. The biggest problem is lack of experience and lack of lighting resources. Translated to English – The DJ just did not have enough lights to get the proper effect.
Now, the same room at the River House done by our Music In Motion lighting staff. Many more lights have been used with a very even separation placement between the units. We also carefully measured the placement so the uplight effect is maximized between the windows. This way the effect makes it all the way up to ceiling. ( My apology for the poor photo quality. The image was taken with my BlackBerry Phone )
Bottom line * Be careful when choosing a company for uplighting. Just because they offer it, does not mean they do it correctly. More times than not, a professional lighting company will blow away any DJ who is not properly trained. However, if a DJ invests time and resources to learn the proper methods of illumination, then you might have the best value. DJs will often be more reasonably priced for uplighting as compared to ” lighting only ” companies.
Music In Motion Entertainment of Seymour Connecticut is a professional event production service offering DJs, Event Lighting and design. We have separate divisions within the company to specialize in both fields without comprimize to the customer.
Cascade Bridal Show is Big Hit
By · Comments
Brides to be, their future spouses, family and friends turned out in record numbers at the 6th Annual Winter Bridal Show held this past Sunday at the Cascade Fine Catering facility in Hamden, CT. Guests were treated to samplings of Cascade’s signature gourmet food, carving stations, pastries, wedding cake, and many other treats. Over 30 of the New Haven area’s top vendors were on hand to help brides plan for their weddings. Live entertainment was provided by the Signature Band, Music in Motion DJ Steve Fernino and myself as MC. For the fashion show, bridal gowns and models were provided by Bridal Trousseau on Main in Branford. By the way, Bridal Trousseau is now opening a new, larger (3000 square foot) facility in the same area. The models’ hair and makeup were done by North Haven Hair Academy. Tuxes and men’s formals were provided by Zaccariello’s Formal Wear, with two locations in Wallingford and Branford. The Cascade had it’s main ballroom completely open, and adorned with floral and toulle designs by Sunilda All Occasions Flowers Flowers by Danielle and Haworth’s Flower Shop. The downstairs ballroom, complete with bar area, was also open for guest viewing. Architectural uplighting around the entire ballroom was provided by Music in Motion. Almost all of the vendors provided some type of gift certificate or show special, allowing brides to save some money on their wedding. The grand finale included a free honeymoon giveaway by the Perfect Wedding Guide and a free shower celebration at Cascade.
I’ve hosted many bridal shows but this had to be one of the more memorable ones. The models were friendly and outgoing, the fashions up-to-date and stylish and the reaction from the crowd was enormous, with many of them clapping, toe-tapping and even dancing with the models. As I traveled around to the different booths, I found all vendors to be pleasant, outgoing and helpful. It was also great to see and meet so many of our future brides, who turned out to participate in the fun and festivities.
